Skeletons Remain 

The skeletons of houses remain

revealing nothing of the scars

that lay behind the front door.

City pockets of skeletons remain.

Revealing nothing of destruction

that occurred, one year ago today

Street front views reveal nothing

of the bare floors and walls inside.

While the CBD limps back to life again.

Many having moved on from,

those events one year ago today

While houses in pockets stand still.

Just as the were when the water receded

one year ago tomorrow,

Inside walls were striped to dry out,

the day after — one year ago today.

Some will say, move on,

That was one year ago today,

not sharing the secrets of those whose,

homes that hide behind their street fronts.

Those who not be able to reclaim,

the houses and belongings that ,

were torn from there lives,

will cry again today.
